Introduction
This site provides a collection of song sheets for popular public domain Christmas carols, geared primarily for the guitarist. Each consists of a single lead sheet containing the melody, lyrics, and chords. In many cases, the songs have been transposed down from the key commonly found in hymn books, while the chord changes have (in most cases) been simplified.
Carols given in the keys of D and G typically contain repeated high notes, warranting transposition for mere mortals. They sound better if you can sing them in the higher key! Otherwise, use a capo to drop the carol into a lower key without having to re-write the chords.
Please note that there are numerous variations in words and tunes for many of these carols; I have tried to use the most familiar lyrics. There are also variable numbers of verses between hymn books, and I have been a little selective about how many I actually include in some cases.
All these carols are public domain and provided free of charge. These sheets may not be sold, nor are the files to be repackaged or included in other compilations; feel free to link to these pages instead.
