Introduction:
- Analytical Science:
- The art and science of chemical separation, identification, detection, and measurement
Welcome to the Analytical Science web site for the Department of Chemistry at the University of Toronto. This site provides common resources and information for Analytical Chemistry courses run by the Department at the St. George Campus. Information provided on this site includes:
- Links and information on the different analytical chemistry courses
- On-line tutorials on statistics, chemometrics, and calibration
- Virtual tours and information about different analytical instruments
- Multimedia presentations describing common laboratory operations
If you have any questions about the material on this site, please contact the person indicated at the foot of the relevant page.
Analytical Course List:
The analytical chemistry lecture stream currently consists of five courses:
- CHM 217 Introduction to Analytical Chemistry
- CHM 317 Introduction to Instrumental Methods
- CHM 414 Biological and Chemical Sensors
- CHM 416 Separation Science
- CHM 417 Instrumentation for Chemists
Tutorials:
A self-guided tutorial on statistics, including calibration, regression, and the use of Excel. The focus of this presentation is the application of statistics in chemical measurement; the content is, however, generally applicable throughout all experimental science. This tutorial is completely modular, so you can easily skip material you are already familiar with, and contains numerous illustrations and exercises so that you can develop your skills in the area of data analysis and presentation.
