Deuterium NMR

 Deuterium NMR has been added to the Varian VnmrS-400. 

To access deuterium NMR, click on the Deuterium button. Double click on the parameters (time field) to automatically set up for deuterium observe.

Usually, samples are run without deuterated solvent, so ensure

1. Lock is  off
2. Tune is off
3. Shim is off

Because referencing is done off the lock signal, z0 should be set to 0 when there is no lock solvent. The referencing has been set so the chemical shifts will be close. If accurate chemical shifts are needed, it is important to add a small amount of deuterated solvent (like a drop of CDCl3) to accurately reference.
