THE FATE, TRANSFORMATION, AND MOVEMENT OF NITROGEN IN SOILS

My research interests are exploring the nitrogen species in soils, for examining their fate, transformation, and movement. I’m very interested in exploring the role of nitrogen in the agriculture field, extending to environmental effects. In agriculture, a lot of N-fertilizers are applied to increase the yield, but literatures show that more than half of the fertilizer is not recovered in the crop. The unrecovered N may contribute to environmental problems such as N2O emission and eutrophication. It is important to understand the environmental interactions of nitrogen to expand the good side (soil fertility, crop yield) and mitigate the environmental problems.
