Biosketch

Vy Dong was born in Big Spring, Texas in 1976. She graduated with a degree in chemistry from the University of California at Irvine where she completed an honor's thesis with Larry Overman. After graduation, Vy joined David MacMillan's group at UC Berkeley and then moved with his group to Caltech, where she obtained her doctorate degree. Her doctoral work featured new variants of the zwitterionic-Claisen rearrangement and a total synthesis of erythronolide b. As an NIH postdoctoral fellow, Vy returned to Berkeley to pursue organometallic and supramolecular chemistry with Robert Bergman and Kenneth Raymond. In 2006, Vy began an independent academic career at the University of Toronto where she was promoted with tenure and recently named the Adrian Brook Distinguished University Professor.
