UPDATE: We are very sorry to have to close further registration for Fluoros. The overwhelming interest has exceeded the available room capacity. Unfortunately there will be no further advanced registration and no on-site registration available. We apologize to any who were planning on registering. Regards, Scott Mabury, Fluoros Chair

On behalf of the International Advisory Board and the Local Organizing Committee, we invite you to Toronto on August 18-20, 2005, for FLUOROS – An International Symposium on Fluorinated Alkyl Organics in the Environment. FLUOROS precedes the DIOXIN 2005 conference (August 21-26, 2005) and will similarly be held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.

FLUOROS aims to examine the “state of the science” on fluorinated organic compounds in the environment, bringing together members of industry, academia and government.

The symposium program has been divided into 4 areas of focus or sessions: Environmental Fate and Transport, Analytical Chemistry and Monitoring, Toxicology, and Risk Assessment and Policy. Sessions will run consecutively, devoting 0.5 day to each session, and will feature 2-3 invited speakers followed by a poster session. Invited speakers are distinguished, world experts in their fields and will articulate the current state of knowledge of the “focus area” as well as identifying further research priorities and information gaps.

FLUOROS will emphasize a strong student presence. As such, students will receive a special, discounted registration fee and will be eligible for student travel awards.

In addition to the scientific program, a Welcome Reception will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2005. Also, a Dim Sum Banquet on Friday, August 19, 2005, will be hosted a local restaurant in Toronto’s famous Chinatown.

We look forward to seeing you in Toronto at the FLUOROS symposium.
