Lion_dance_costumeFebruary 19th is Chinese New Year, transitioning to the Year of the Goat. Goat Traditionally Chinese New Year is celebrated for 15 days, with lion dances, fireworks and lots of red (symbolizing good fortune and joy, and to scare away the mythological Nian).

On Jan. 23rd, 2015 we hosted a Chinese cultural night as an early celebration. Department members came out for delicious Chinese cuisine, catered by Dim Sum King Seafood Restaurant, and Tsingtao, a popular Chinese beer. Judy Tsao, from the Stephan group, performed for the attendees, playing the GuZheng.

Photos from the night are available on the ChemClub Flickr.

Thanks everyone for an awesome night.
