Organizations:

Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO)
This is an annual competition for high school chemistry students, with regional winners going on to compete at the National Olympiad Finals for a place on the Canadian team at the International Chemistry Olympiad. A free on-line preparation program is available to all Canadian high school students through this web site (registration required.) The national qualifying exam is run in April in conjunction with the Canadian Institute of Chemistry’s Canadian Chemistry Competition. The CCO is run under the auspices of the Canadian Chemistry and Physics Olympiad organization.
Canadian Chemistry Competition (CCC)
This national high school chemistry competition (formerly known as the ‘National High School Chemistry Exam’) is run by the Canadian Institute of Chemistry. Teachers should note that past exams with worked solutions are available for download from this site.
College Chemistry Canada (C3)
This organization is devoted to teaching chemistry at the college and university level. The annual C3 conference is an excellent place to meet other post-secondary chemistry instructors and share teaching tips, tools, and insights.
Science Teacher’s Association of Ontario (STAO)
An organization for those teaching science at all levels in Ontario schools, as well as anyone with a general interest in science education.
Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE)
An organization for all those interested in teaching and learning at the post-secondary education level in Canada. This includes teachers, educational researchers, and faculty development centre staff.

Alberta Science Courses
The grade 11 & 12 chemistry course curricula for Alberta are available here, together with documents for other high school science courses.
British Columbia Science Courses
The grade 11 & 12 chemistry course curricula for BC are available here, together with documents for other high school science courses.
Ontario Science Courses
The grade 11 & 12 chemistry course curricula for Ontario are available here, together with documents for other high school science courses.
Advanced Placement (AP) Canada
The site is specific to the AP program in Canada, and provides information on the program and participating schools (including almost 200 public and private schools in Ontario). The program was initially developed in the US in the 1950s, where it is run by the College Board.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
The IB program is similar in nature to the AP program, originating in Geneva in the 1960s. This site provides information on the program and participating schools (including about 50 public and private schools in Ontario).
Chem 13 News
A magazine for high school chemistry teachers, published 9 times a year by the Department of Chemistry at the University of Waterloo.
