Security Update 2004-01-26
Security Update 2004-01-26 is now available. It contains security enhancements for the following: AFP Server, Apache 1.3, Apache 2, Classic, Mail, Safari, System Configuration, Windows File Sharing. MWSF
At MacWorld, San Francisco, Steve Jobs presented:
- iLife '04, with iDVD 4, iPhoto 4, iMovie 4 and iTunes 4 and GarageBand. GarageBand is a new consumer level application for mixing and recording tracks
- Xserve G5 and a new Xserve RAID. The Xserve is dual G5 with ECC memory in a 1U package. The Xserve RAID is a fibre channel 3U 3.5TB storage with 14 hot swap ATA drive. It is now qualified for Linux (RH7/8 and Windows).
- New iPod mini, 4 GB storage in a smaller aluminum package, the size of a business card.
Microsoft also presented MS Office 2004 for Macintosh.

iTunes 4, new iPods, Quicktime 6.2, iTunes Music Store
Apple has announced iTunes 4, with support for AAC (mp4) encoding of songs and access to the iTunes Music Store. Quicktime 6.2 is needed for AAC encoding in iTunes.
A new redesigned iPod was also announced today. Existing iPods can be updated to use the AAC codec.April 28 2003
