To view the Ask a Laureate webcast live on Friday morning, May 6, 2011, starting at 9:30 am
You will need a computer linked to the Internet, speakers, and have one of following web plugins installed on your computer:
- Microsoft Silverlight (http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight; Mac or Windows). At the top of the webpage, click on the "Download" button and choose "Get Silverlight Plugin."
- RealPlayer (http://www.real.com/realplayer/download; Mac, Windows, Linux, Solaris). Choose the appropriate operating system and download.
Open up the application you choose to use and make sure the program is updated to the most current version.
For a classroom setting, a computer projector is also recommended. To join the live lecture please go to the link:

Please note that there can be a delay of several seconds between the live lecture and the webcast lecture.
Instructions for asking laureates questions using the chat room
- To ask a laureate a question you will need to connect to the chat room. Go to the link http://eos.ic.utoronto.ca/ic-chat/ as shown in Figure A.
- Under "Username" enter a short name of your school, e.g. Northern SS. No password is necessary.
Then click "Login."
- You will see a screen like shown in Figure B. Ask your question by typing it into the box beneath the chat window.
- A moderator at the event will select the best questions and address them directly to the speakers on your behalf.
