#PledgeForParity Campaign

Pledge for parity

Date: March 8, 2016

Time: 2:30 pm

Location: Davenport Atrium, Lash Miller Chemical Laboratories

International Women’s Day is Tomorrow, March 8, 2016, and to celebrate, WICTO is hosting a #PledgeForParity event. According to the official International Women’s Day website, The World Economic Forum estimates that a the gender gap will not close entirely until 2133. We need to speed up the process, and you can help by taking part in this campaign. Everyone – men and women – can pledge to take a concrete step to help achieve gender parity more quickly – whether to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference, develop more inclusive and flexible cultures or root out workplace bias. Each of us can be a leader within our own spheres of influence and commit to take pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity.

Please visit http://www.internationalwomensday.com/ to learn more about this day and to sign the pledge online for gender equality.

WICTO is having our own #PledgeForParity event to raise awareness and promote gender parity to students and faculty. We will have signs so people can write down their pledges and take a picture to support the movement. Also, computers will be provided so these photos can be uploaded to social media accounts to spread the word. Snacks will be given to anyone participating in the event, so please come to support and learn more about this global issue!
