Computer Facility

Undergraduate Computer Laboratory (UCL)

The Undergraduate Computer Laboratory is located on the first floor of Lash Miller Chemical Laboratories. It is a key facility for the undergraduate courses from first to fourth year Chemistry that incorporates computer and computational methods in their curriculum.

It is used as well for undergraduate research projects and workshops in Computational Chemistry. During the supervised open hours students can use the lab on individual basis for interactive learning, preparation for tests and exams, etc.

UCL houses 40 Windows computer stations and two computer clusters running under Linux, as well as two laser printers. The software library includes, but is not limited to, Microsoft Office, HyperChem, ADC/2D NMR predictor, ACDLabs 8.0, CS ChemDraw Pro, Graphical Analysis, MDL CrossFire Commander, SciFinder Scholar, Gaussian 2003 and WebMoPro.

Departmental Library

A.D. Allen Chemistry Library

The Chemistry Library is situated on the fourth floor of the research wing and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The library maintains books and journals used in undergraduate courses.  Unfortunately, because of space limitation the library is normally not open to students enrolled in first year courses.  Reference books and other resource material for first year courses may be found in the various University and College libraries.
