Postdoctoral Fellow Positions

JOB POSTING – POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW

Area of Research: Are you an expert in mass spectrometry and proteomics? Are you interested to explore the integration of mass spectrometry and proteomics with cutting-edge microfluidic analysis systems? Our team is developing new technologies in this area, and we are searching for a new postdoc to join us in this project.

Description of duties: If you accept this position, you will join our multidisciplinary team (including partners and sponsors in government, academia, and industry) to push the boundaries of what is possible for single-cell proteome profiling. Upon joining, you will be involved in designing and implementing experiments, collecting results, training students and other lab members, as well as writing manuscripts and grant applications.

Salary: $50,000 – $60,000 CDN (commensurate with the level of experience)

Required qualifications: To apply, you must have a Ph.D. (granted in the last 5 years) in chemistry, biochemistry, engineering, or a related discipline, as well as experience with mass spectrometry and proteomics. Strong written and oral English communication skills are required as is experience working in teams. 

Desired qualifications: Experience with microfluidics, transcriptomics, bioinformatics, and high-content data analysis is relevant to this posting. If you have this experience, please feature it in your cover letter.

Expected start date:   June 1, 2024 (this date is flexible based on the selected candidates’ availability)
Term:   Initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal for another 1-2 years upon mutual agreement and funding availability.

  100%. The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral fellow (pro-rated for those holding a partial appointment) recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and training and the needs of the supervisor’s research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.

Employment as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto is covered by the terms of the CUPE 3902 Unit 5 Collective Agreement.
