Research

Our research embraces four major themes: polymer science, nanoscience, materials science and polymers in biological systems. We are also active in the field of microfluidics and 3D printing. Our goal is to understand the properties of soft and biological matter systems and to design new materials with advanced properties.

Our research program in highly innovative. We are always open to new ideas and research directions. Our new projects range from the use of artificial intelligence in materials science to the development of efficient in vitro models for drug screening to the discovery of advanced polymer scaffolds for cell culture.

We are an experimental research group. Our research program is highly interdisciplinary. Chemistry, chemical engineering and mechanical engineering students and postdocs exchange ideas and work together in our lab. We extensively collaborate with experimental and theoretical groups in other research laboratories in Canada and world-wide. We enjoy collaborations with Industry and hope to implement our finding in industrial settings. We collaborate with hospitals in projects with the aim to develop new drug screening systems or enhanced wound healing.
